Prometheus is an award-winning multimedia performance inspired by the Indonesian shadow theatre tradition of Wayang Kulit. The project brings together puppetry, theatre, cinema and digital technologies to create a new form of “Performative Shadow Cinema”, exploring the boundaries between traditional shadow theatre and contemporary multimedia performance. I designed and developed the interactive multimedia system that orchestrates the performance in real time, combining live cameras, gesture tracking, chroma key, procedural animation and digital sound generation. These technologies extend the physical possibilities of shadow puppetry, allowing silhouettes, light, movement and digital imagery to interact within a shared cinematic space. The system enables a single performer to control and combine these elements live while manipulating silhouettes and drawing in sand on a light table. The performer becomes simultaneously puppeteer, animator and filmmaker, transforming traditional shadow theatre into a dynamic audiovisual performance. Prometheus premiered at Casa da Música, Porto, in 2014 and was produced by Casa da Música and Lafontana Formas Animadas.
